This timeless wisdom inspired B.K.S. Iyengar, who`s dedication and innovative approach brought Patanjali’s teachings to life. His wisdom, shared with both humility and wit, continues to resonate within our global community of practitioners. Light on Yoga, often lovingly referred to as “the bible of yoga,” has been a guiding resource for generations since its first publication in 1966.
Geeta Iyengar
Srimati Geeta S. Iyengar, daughter of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar, was a pioneering teacher who brought global attention to women’s health through yoga. She brought attention to how yoga can support women through menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause. Her acclaimed book Yoga: A Gem for Women continues to guide women through all stages of life. She passed away on December 16, 2018.
Sri Prashant S. Iyengar
Sri Prashant S. Iyengar, son of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar, is a renowned yoga scholar, philosopher, and teacher. He is known for his profound understanding of yoga’s philosophical and spiritual dimensions. PrashantJi is gifted musician and author Some of his key works are Pranayama: A Classical and Traditional Approach, Organology and Sensology in Yogashastra, Alpha and Omega of Trikonasana, Yogasana: An Adhyatmik Academy, Chittavijñana of Yogasanas, Discourses on Yog, and A Manual of Humanics, among others.
His teachings invite students to experience yoga as more than physical posture: to integrate body, breath, mind, and soul; to explore consciousness; and to see yoga as a path of self-study and transformation.
